Irregular Lymph node

Options

I had a breast MRI which lit up 3 lymph nodes..

Fast forward to today. An irregular lymph node at 4 o'clock was seen. It was enlarged and had lost its C or U shape.. Biopsy is next Wednesday.

I had a double mastectomy. Has anyone had this and had a recurrence

    Hi!

There are some BC patients who have had recurrences after a double mastectomy on here. (KBee?) It looks like your surgeon took out 10 nodes during your surgery -- is this new (allegedly) compromised node on your left or your right? Just trying to get a clearer picture here. ((Hugs)) I hope your biopsy shows the node is benign!

The node is on the affected side. I am nearly a 5 year survivor, BUT I have not had an MRI with my reconstructed breasts yet. I was told that it was not standard to habe frequent MRIs

I did have a local recurrence after BMX. Unfortunately, a few of us have. It is rare, but it does happen. When is your biopsy?

Sorry you are dealing with this

My biopsy is Wednesday. The radiologist did not seem concerned, but that could have been his way of not worrying me. Like, seriously dude, I can handle this.

It is definitely EARLY early of it is a lymph node recurrence, so I would imagine that perhaps he has never seen a recurrence that early. I just have a "feeling", know what I mean? I have also had a bit of pain in that area, but I chalked it up to the fact that pain after MX can happen AND my recent increase in past 6 months of aerial yoga :D

KBEEEE Do you know if surgery is a possibility? I am not doing chemo again, not gonna happen. Proton radiation therapy I would do, and other immunological therapies are fine, but I am hoping they can remove this beeeeyotch if needed.

Lymph nodes can swell and appear abnormal for a variety of reasons. Surgery would depend on location and proximity to other structures. It would definitely be a decision made as a team with surgeon, MO, etc. A second opinion would be warranted as well. A friend I know has had multiple metastases to neck nodes over the years and also has opted not to do the harsh chemo. She's done Letrozole and Ibrance, and I think Falsodex. There are certainly options, but hopefully the biopsy will be benign and you won't have to explore the options.

    Knees,

My irregularity is at 4'o clock if treating by boob like a clock. The other lymph nodes appeared normal in shape.

My friends dad works at MDAnderson and said he would personally take my case, so I have a 2nd opinion if I get unfavorable results.
