Questions about Liver biopsy !!
Hi everyone.
In a sense I am new here. Used to be on here years ago but now facing some problems that might signify mets.
I had first Breast cancer in 1997 with lumpectomy and radiation. Stage 2
Second round was in 2005 . So abut 8 years later. Same breast stage 2 . Had mastectomy and 3 months of chemo.
Fast forward to now.
I had pneumonia last month and on chest X-ray they saw a 20 by 21 mm nodule on one lung. Then on CT scan it was not there but lots of little spots on lungs. Maybe still the pneumonia ? Don't know. Dr seemed baffled. However, he is worried about my liver that shows in this scan. Had a few spots and one area about 20x 20 mm that does not look right. So, he wants me to have a liver biopsy. I have become a bit anti chemo and anti strong treatments or invasive procedures. I am scared about the liver biopsy and seeding. I am almost thinking of putting it off and just looking at the liver again in a few months. Maybe with ultra sound??
Any advice from others going thru same or who have gone thru liver biopsy ??? Was in conclusive ? Did it give you solid information? I do want to know if I have mets and would also like to know where. However I am wondering if it is something to do with the pnumeonia. Well the DR said , who knows , it could be an infection in the liver and treatable with antibiotics.
I am becoming a nervous wreck trying to decide to have it or to wait.
Also, how painful is it? Did it lay you up for a few days??

I had a liver biopsy years ago but I was asleep. No pain. Two days of no lifting, no special post directives. Had fatty liver at 50. Doc called it the American liver. Even though I'm metastatic I don't have mets to the liver, yet.

Okay . Thanks for you reply. Just goes to show. It may not be cancer but something else. So, will most likely do it

I had pneumonia 40 years ago. After the diagnosis I started having pain in my liver area. The doctor said liver issues can arise as a secondary infection from pneumonia. Haven't had any problems since. Hope this helps a little bit.
