edited February 2019 in Waiting for Test Results

I am so incredibly stressed out and worried. I can hardly sleep and I'm a Grumpy all the time since I started doing these tests. I had my biopsy done on February 20th and am waiting results. My primary doctor already set up an appointment with an on cologist because she is very nervous about these results and feels that it is cancer. I meet with him this Tuesday and I should have my biopsy results by Monday or Tuesday. I really don't understand This mammogram and ultrasound report so of anyone can help me out it would be so appreciated. Does it look like I might have cancer just from the report? I'm sick to my stomach. I also have a painful lump under my nipple and bottom breast. It's actually more uncomfortable than painful. It's a solid mass. No possibility of being an abscess. I'm also 32 years old and my mother had stage 3 breast cancer as well as both aunts had uterine and ovarian cancer.

The report reads as follows

Left uni lateral digital Diagnostic mammography with tomosynthesis...

Indication.. Palpable Abnormality. There is a known family history of breast cancer, mother.

Comparison.. Breast ultrasound 2 13 20 19

Technique.. Left uni lateral digital CC and MLO combined mammographic 1 And 3-D tomographic views were obtained. CAD analysis's was performed.

Findings.. The breast is almost entirely fatty. A few benign appearing calcification is our present on the left. A9MM intramammory Lymph node is present in the post earier left upper outer quadrant at 2 o'clock

A metallic marker is placed over an area of palpable abnormality in the left peri areolar region. Additional spot compression views are performed, which demonstrate a 3.1 CM irregular mass in the anterior left sub areolar region. This mass has a solid appearance on breast ultrasound. There are no suspicious masses, areas of architectural distortion or abnormal calcification in the remainder of the breast.

Impression.. A suspicious appearing mass is present in the left sub areolar region. Recommended ultrasound guided core biopsy to further evaluate. Please also note that standard Mammographic views of the right breast should also be performed to allow for adequate comparison

I’m so sorry u have to go through this. I’m going through it as well. I’m 32 also and waiting on biopsy results Monday. My report didn’t say highly suspicious but it’s so scary nonetheless. Odds are in our favor due to our age is what I keep telling myself. The report is a high indicator but nothing is certain until the biopsy. Another girl our age on here was pretty much told she had cancer and she just got results with it being benign. Good luck and let us know. Try not to over worry.

    Hi Sara_smile,

We're so very sorry you're here and worrying! We can understand why you're so scared and upset, but please remember that nothing is confirmed until biopsy results come in. Motheroftwo36 is right -- your age is on your side and it's very possible this is benign.

We're all here for you -- please keep us posted with your results. We're thinking of you!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I just did over the last 6 weeks and the waiting nearly killed me! I’m 30, they found a 1.2cm irregular mass in my left breast, I had a BIRADS 4c, as well, and they all thought it would be cancerous (I also have an insanely strong family history). Turns out to be a papilloma with ADH, so benign! When I went in for the surgery, the radiologist literally told me she was following my case because she thought it would be cancer and 2 people emailed her the results when it wasn’t and she was so happy she had to come tell me herself!

So there’s still a good chance it’s benign!! The report can only tell so much, until you get the pathology back, nothing can be proven. Keep us updated and I’m sending good thoughts! x

Thank you so much and for your kind words of encouragement… isn't this one of the scariest things we've had to go through? I'm praying for you to get a negative biopsy result on Monday. All the best my love.

Thank you so much for the encouragement… this is such an amazing support group for women going through this horrible matter… I wish when my mother was diagnosed over 10 years ago she had a group like this to reach out to for more support cause I know how hard it was for her… again thank you so much.. Praying for good results

I just went through something very similar. I was called back for mammogram and they said I would need a biopsy on two irregular masses. I asked if it could be a cyst and she said no as it has "no fluid". The Dr seemed pretty convinced it would be cancer. She told me that she "saw a surgery in my future". She labeled it BIRAD 4C - "high suspicion for malignancy". I was worried sick. Literally sick, throwing up and not sleeping. I could not think of anything but this. When I bought milk, I would look at the date and think that I will be fighting cancer by then. It was all consuming. They were trying to get me an appointment with the breast surgeon before the biopsy results were back. I was certain it would be cancer.

Biopsy came back benign for both spots. One was fiber something and other was a cyst.

The nurse navigator later told me that my doctor was young (probably early 40s) and she was aggressive in terms of ordering biopsies and labeling them 4C. She said she felt it was better to label it 4C and have it be benign than label it 4A and have it be cancer. Nurse navigator said she gives out "lots" of benign results to people who are worried sick like I was and people with 4C. She said to remember that 80% of biopsies come back benign. While waiting for the results I had asked her if she felt that 80% benign applies to 4C and she said yes.

You asked if it looks like you have cancer just from the report and no, it doesn't. It looks like you have a mass and they need to biopsy it.

I was where you are and I understand the panic you are experiencing. Please allow yourself to have some hope. Have some hope. You hold on to that 80% number and don't allow the devil to steal every bit of your hope. Pray. God hears you. Give this to God. I'm praying for you, girl. Even if you have to pray every 30 seconds then do it. Just pray for the Holy Spirit to pray for you. You don't have to pray anything else. Praying for you to be calm and have peace. 80% includes you!
