Lump on neck?

Options

hello all!

I just wanted to see if anyone has had some experience with lymphoma or Mets to lymph nodes. I have had a hard, immobile, not painful or tender lump on my neck for about 2 months. Night sweats worse than normal (not totally abnormal bc of surgical menopause). Some headaches, but also not totally abnormal for me. I have not been sick and no other symptoms.

Saw onc on Friday last week and wbc were higher than normal, and neutrophils were pretty high. Have a CT scheduled for Thursday morning. I would say it is on the larger size maybe close to an inch across? Hard to tell though.

Freaking out here!!!

Annidreat my mom was also diagnosed with the same thing nodules in both lunfs which gots away on follow up pet/ct scan and so e remained which they told us are benign. After that my mom noticed hard lymph node in her neck which was larger in ultrasound also. After FNAC it was benign.

Yes Annidreat she had a lump on cancerous side which was hard and on another side there was an enlarged lymph node with maintained fatty hilum as mentioned in her ultrasound.

WBC elevation usually indicates infection of some sort...lymph nodes are supposed to help the body fight infections, so that coincides with the lump. I hope that is all they find. Best to you.

I believe lymphoma usually presents itself with many swollen nodes on throughout the body. Also - it can cause a reaction of pain if you consume alcohol... that is a symptom many people experience. Of course I know from my own worry and googling everything.........

I have had a neck node swell periodically this winter, many things can cause it. Try not to be too worried.

Hi Anniedreat, I'm glad that your doctor is NOT taking the wait and watch approach. It likely is not cancer, but you need to know for sure. The CT will provide reassurance that your cancer has not spread elsewhere in the body; however, it's my understanding that only a biopsy of the node in your neck can rule out cancer. Cervical nodes can be tricky to biopsy, so some breast surgeons prefer to wait and watch. I wish that I had pushed for a biopsy earlier as mine did turn out to be a return of my cancer. I don't want to scare you, but I do want to encourage you to get a definitive answer sooner than later. Best Wishes! Theresa

Keep us posted on how things go. Hoping all is benign and related to infection.

sorry for the extremely late reply... the CT came

And they called the lymph reactive. I am not totally convinced this is the case, but that’s how I always feel. It is currently still there and slightly larger than it was. I will wait until my next appointment in August and see what onc thinks. If he can assure me that he is confident that it is in-fact reactive and not a scary lymph then I will let it be, if he cannot then I am going to request a biopsy. Gah I truly hate the anxiety of every little lump and bump potentially being cancer. Have a nice night ladies and thank you all! Xo
