Test for CYP2D6 - What is a reliable provider?

This question is for people who tested for CYP2D6 before starting Tamoxifen.

I asked my MO if she would prescribe this test and she does not routinely perform CYP2D6 genotyping for any patient but she suggested that I could have it done commercially. So I searched on line and found a few providers, e.g. Kailos for $99 GeneleX for $379 etc. I am asking if anybody has used any of these providers in the past and what was the outcome? Is one more reliable than another on their results?

Did you have good\bad experiences with Kailos or any other provider? Thank you!

Hi there Applejuice. I will have to look through my medical receipts tomorrow, but I'll find the company that did my test and send you the info. But my experience was that a doctor had to collect the sample. Have you tried calling hospitals in your area to see if they have a doctor who handles genetic testing and consultation?

    hi Georgia,

Thank you for your answer! I did not call but noticed the Kailos only requires a swab from inside of the cheek (saliva sample). The Genele requires both blood and saliva. Once i decide which company to go with, it wont be a problem to have blood drawn and sent out. I just need some help to figure out which is a reliable company that others had good results from.
