my mom had an abnormal mammogram done late of 2018. She went Into her dr to discuss the importance of a biopsy. about 1 week ago or so my mom went In to radiology to get a mammogram on the masses she had. and just today we were given the bad news that it was in fact cancer. My Mom was indeed shocked as was my dad and I. Her dr stated that she still needed some pathology reports to come in because she was unclear weather or not it may have also spread to her lymph nodes. We go bk on Wednesday to find out for sure, and then Dr will give us more information on what stage shes in, type of treatment she will need and of course she also needs to see an oncology specialist....This is a BIG SHOCK to us all. and we are staying as positive as possible. for my mom.

Martha. I’m so sorry you are having to deal with this. For what it’s worth, I’ve found a lot of great information on this site, as well as support. I was especially uncertain in the beginning. For many, once the complete diagnosis is in and a treatment plan is decided, things get psychologically easier in some ways.

Martha - we all know how you feel. Sorry about your mother. It is a shock to be sure. The Path report is the tell all. At this point all the doctors can do is speculate.

It’s been 7+ years for me since I was DX but I will always remember the fear when I was given the news. Forever etched in my memory.

Your mother is at the beginning of the process but once the type of BC, etc is determined it should move quickly.

Just be there for your Mom. I’m sure she is devastated by the news - and your dad of course. It’s scary but it’s manageable. We are all testaments to that. She will be inundated with information so having someone to take copious notes and ask questions is a big help. My husband went to appointments with me.

So keep the faith and keep us posted.

    Diane
