Hi I am new here and newly diagnosed. I found the lump in my left breast on 1/6 week and had a trip planned, saw my PCP on 1/22 and mammogram and U/S that same day; biopsy was done on 1/29. Confirmed it was IDC. I am estrogen + and HER2+ and therefore have to do chemo no matter what my surgery options are. I just enrolled in the Daphne trial at Dana Farber Cancer institute in Boston and will be getting all my testing done next week then will do chemo first followed by surgery. Just looking for support and insight into the chemo part of the treatment. I will be treated with Taxol, herceptin and perjeta.

Hi Lamb22, I also had chemo first, since we knew my cancer had progressed to the lymph nodes. My chemo cocktail was a little different, but I think the treatments are about the same.I had 6 cycles, every 3 weeks. Basically, the first couple of days each cycle, i didnt feel too bad, then for a couple of days kinda felt flu-like, tired ,a little weak, then gradually better each day. Then the next cycle, etc. Never vomited, but food had little appeal, everything tasted different. So i wanted bland food with little taste. Drank plenty of fluids, went to the gym, went out with friends, not every day, but life can be pretty normal, just take it easy. Some days you'll just want sleep, some days you'll feel practically normal. Once it's over, the rest of the treatments, for me, were easy. I hope all goes well for you. Just know, you can do it! And come out one tough chick! 💗
