Is any one AI better than another in terms of cholesterol level?. I am currently on letrozole and my overall cholesterol jumped from 156 to 196 in the year I've been on letrozole. My HDL ratio to LDL is good though - under 2. Still I don't like how my cholesterol jumped 40 points and worry what will happen over the years I have to take it. So wondering if the other two AI's might be better in terms of cholesterol.

Thanks

Nancy

hello. I take Arimidex and am afraid my cholesterol went through the roof.

working on a couple other side effects before I consider taking the statins.

what we do to keep the cancer at bay.

good luck and check in with your doctor.

Same here. Cholesterol went through the roof. Managed to get it closer to normal but it took a couple of years after I went off AIs

I am on Letrozole, and my cholesterol increased about 60 points also. I did get it down 20 points, but it's still annoying. My HDL/LDL ration is such that they are not treating it, but it's still frustrating. In my family, cancer kills most people, not heart disease, so I'll live with the high cholesterol to reduce my cancer recurrence risk.

My total cholesterol jumped from 200 to 240 when I started letrozole. Now I'm taking red yeast rice from Costco and it helps some. I'm on the edge of metabolic syndrome and I don't want to start a statin--it can increase the risk of developing type-2 diabetes. What a balancing act this is!
