after 3 years on arimidex, told to stop, may start tamox

After three years on arimidex and losing 20% bone mass cummulative with yearly bone density scans the MO told me to stop cold turkey! I see him in two months at which time we will discuss perhaps going on Tamox...has anyone done this??? TT

    I have not personally done this but...I'm a RN and I would strongly advise you to wean yourself off! MOs know very little about female hormones. It would be different if you were going on Tamoxifen now. Good luck and keep us posted.

    Thanks, I have been asked to stop Arimidex a week before and week after my surgeries, so never weaned off...but I have also been asking about slowing starting and/or with the bone density issue moving to every other day...will taper off, then have a month free before we have the Tamox discussion. TT
