Ongoing mastectomy symptoms.

I’m one year out from my mastectomy surgeries (right). I still have pinching, pulling, pressure sensations around and over the right mastectomy area. Does this ever end!? Could I have an ongoing infection? How can you tell? It’s not overly red or warm, plenty of scarring though.

Does anyone have suggestions to make these symptoms go away?

I am two and half years post mastectomy and one year post reconstruction. I noticed last week during a work out that I wasn't 100% aware of my right breast during chest presses. So, my guess is yes, it will end. It just might take longer than you thought. I know it did for me.

Thank you that is helpful and hopeful. My surgeon said my muscles were no longer attached the same way do chest presses, butterflies, and push ups would do nothing for me, but perhaps cause injury. That’s not the advice you got I take it

I mentioned that to my surgeon early on after surgery and she recommended breast physical therapy, by a lymphodema specialist. It was wonderful because she taught me to take cream and massage the scars gently in little circles and to do certain stretches. There is quite a bit on YouTube if you are not in an area with this kind of specialist. So many docs do not think of it. it is best to start as soon as possible, it makes it less uncomfortable and eventually comfortable. My surgery was 2012, I had as much therapy as I could get on my insurance, stretching it out over time and doing it every single day at home, probably for a year or more. You can look up Memorial Sloan Kettering Institute after reconstruction exercises

    hello all,

I know this is probably old news but I just saw on my news on Facebook that breast implants can cause lymphoma cancer. I have had my implants for 4 years and I got sick 2 years ago with an overproduction of cortisol. Had surgery but the cortisol is creeping up again. Could this have to do with these implants. I don’t have the card anymore. Please anyone have any thoughts on this.

    Hi there,

I am 11 months post bilateral mastectomy, and I also have a lot of strange sensations in my chest. I workout regularly but still not at 100% strength wise. I'm hopeful that eventually these symptoms will go away. I've been noticing how easily I am short of breath (despite my regular exercise), anyway I started worrying about a recurrence and so I called to schedule a ultrasound- I was surprised to find out my doctor must order it. A mammogram wouldn't require a doctor order.... this ridiculous rule really irritated me today.

Hopefully in a week or two I will have had an ultrasound and not have anything to worry about.

Thanks to everyone for sharing. This site helped me immensely last year
