Meeting the Onc today/PET scan
Hi All,
So today I am meeting with the Oncologist. On Friday I got really sick....I assumed it was a stomach virus as that is what it felt like...I get them every winter and they always knock me on my ass. This one lasted longer than normal (5 days) and I finally caved and went to my primary. I told her my concerns about this being my cancer traveling through my body. I have been incredibly itchy since Friday, had dark urine (which i can't say isn't from dehydration) and I swear today the whites of my eyes look yellow. They are sending my for blood test and running a viral Hepatitis scan...I work in the inner city and eat a lot of sushi so the idea of Hep is not something that is totally inconceivable. I have no pain in my stomach besides the nausea which has subsided as of yesterday afternoon.
My anxiety is at an all time high. I am sure the Onc will have me go for a PET scan and given the symptoms that are coming up now, I am terrified of liver METs. I am trying to manage my anxiety as best as I possibly can but I am so freaking scared. I was fine all during my healing process...this all literally just started on Friday. Any calming thoughts are more than welcome right now.

Sending calming thoughts!
Bodies are strange and keep surprising us! This could be hepatitis, a variation on a regular cold/flu/stomach virus, or some other new and interesting and yet not dire thing your body is throwing at you. Maybe something related to your surgery, which was so recent! Chances for liver mets so soon after a 1A ER+/PR+ diagnosis are super low, and lots of other highly improbable explanations are still way more probable.
Whatever it is, you will deal with it!
As far as I'm concerned, this is the time for Boggle/Candy Crush/Civilization/Tetris, whatever mindless games you have handy that absorb you and make the time go by.
Good vibes!

Take a deep breath! I had surgery this year as well, although it was back in January, so almost a year ago. I've had a little more time to "get used" to the diagnosis, which came out of the blue. I think it will always be somewhat in the back of our minds and as time passes, it's a little less in the forefront for me. Reading the supportive posts on this site definitely helps. We all know from our initial testing that the waiting is definitely the hardest part.
I'm glad you have appointments scheduled so you can get to the bottom of this quickly. I agree it's probably unlikely given the results of your pathology, but you'll feel much better finding out what's happening. Wishing you the best and please let us know.

Met with both the oncologist and the radiologist today. Onco type is 14 which means I get to skip chemo (whoohoo). I expressed by concerns about my liver and she did acknowledged that my eyes did look a bit yellow, however she said that certain viral infections can do that. I told her my concerns and she confirmed that it would be highly unlikely (extremely extremely rare were her exact words) for the cancer to have made it's way down to my liver that quickly. She also confirmed that I had a CMP as part of my pre-surgery blood test three weeks ago and said that something would have popped up then and there and I would have been alerted/it would have been in my charts. Radiologist said she is highly doubtful this is cancer related. All of this sounds reassuring and yet, I am not reassured. I am getting blood tests done tomorrow so hoping I will be able to breathe easy soon. Oncologist said I am officially stage 1a and as a result, don't require a PET scan. Again, this should all be reassuring and yet, anxiety likes to be silly

that's great news! I'm glad you're getting some reassurance and I think that will grow stronger as you go through everything. Keep us posted!

Hi! I am on your January and February radiation chats, and when you mentioned your bf taking you to a flyers game, I clicked on your name....I am in PA! Not for too much longer as I am moving back to my home state (Texas) in a few weeks. I live in Doylestown, and doing all of my treatments at my local hospital which I love. Anyway, when i read this post, I was like "SAME!"....I've had crazy anxiety that the cancer has spread.....for me its my lungs. I take deep breaths and try to listen for wheezing, which makes my lungs irritated and then I think I hear something....and its a vicious cycle......all of that to say....I GET YOU!

Hey gurl Heeey!!! That's so neat! when do you move back to your home town?
ugh I didnt even make it to the game. I got up, did the face all glam, made breakfast and I think my body had enough. I got dizzy and sick to my stomach on our way to the Att store to get a new phone. came home and slept for 3 hours...
I think I was exhausted and this was my bodies way of saying "sit down, girl you are doing too much"

We are scheduled to move the fist week of March, so exciting, and just a tad overwhelming. Selling a house and trying to reassemble an oncology team....getting my daughter tranferred to a new school...AH! Lots of good...just all at the same time, ha! I am so sorry you are not feeling well! I agree, your body tells you what it needs and clearly it needs naps! I'm headed into my final week tomorrow, its been a quick 6 weeks for me actually!
