    I was here before about my red round rash ,i was at the doctors and she said it looks very innocent but because i am worried she will get me a mammogram and if the rash doesnt go away to further test it and see what it is.In her opinion i am too young for inflammatory breast cancer(29) but the net is full women younger than that.The visit did not help me at all now i have to wait for further appointments

    For those that do not know i noticed this rash on 18th december,it is still here,some days(like today) it is very red,some days it is not(like it is almost gone) but it never goes totallu away...so i have no idea what this can be? something it has to be,because for 2 months it has not gone away

    IBC is rapidly progressive and relentless. It does not come and go, wax and wane. Considering that it started last December there should be significant physical findings by now, thickening of the skin in particular. Have you seen a dermatologist? They should be able to biopsy the skin in the affected area and get you an answer. Are you treating it with anything? Steroid cream? Antifungal?

    Ask for a punch biopsy. My redness did progress slowly and I also felt at times that it did get better. After several biopsies and a large tumor found, I did end up with cancer in the lymphatic system of my skin also. Also, nothing showed on my mammogram 2 weeks before redness started. A mammogram 3 months later did show skin thickening and an MRI found 3.6 cm tumor. I have had many rashes that turn out to be nothing but be persistent until you get an answer

    mammalou do you know how Long it took for your symptoms to become noticeably worse? Is it IBC?

    Worried. It was about 3 months from first redness to diagnostic mammogram. Mammogram only showed skin thickening. I saw a dermatologist 2 times and tried a cream. If you don’t get help from the dermatologist, then I would suggest going to a breast center. I have learned that there are many many benign things that are scary so I wouldn’t jump right to cancer. Just keep going until you get an answer.

    Thought to update


    I was at the ultrasounds and breastscreening the doctor said nothing unusual,then she said "this is a skin issue nothing related to breasT" .I told her i was worried about IBC her comment was "this is barerly anything how did you even notice it?" i felt she wanted to say that i bothered them for no reason :S

    It sounds like it is a skin irritation, and a dermatologist is a great choice. Unfortunately, when you google skin rash on breast, inflammatory breast cancer pops up immediately, but thankfully, it is rarely the case. Even through the internet has hundreds of women with it (and many here who've been affected and often delayed in being diagnosed by doctors who did not know breast cancer could present as a rash), it has millions whose rash was something else and never post anything about it. You are wise to be aware of it and on top of things, but it thankfully, is not likely IBC. A trip to the dermatologist will hopefully get it sorted out, get you answers, and get you relief from the rash. Do not ever worry about being a bother to healthcare providers. You always must be your own best advocate.

    Worried if it were IBC, after two months your symptoms would likely be quite severe - skin thickening and an orange peel appearance, breast noticeably swollen and radiating heat, it would look angry and inflamed (hence the name). When djmammo said it progresses rapidly he's not joking, it can spread so fast it will make your head spin. It's unlikely that you have IBC if your symptoms aren't drastically worse after two months. The only way to tell for sure is with a punch biopsy. I would see a dermatologist, but as long as it remains just a mild rash I doubt they'd do a biopsy before trying a topical cream for the rash.
