Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has experience with seeking a second opinion for your diagnosis and how long the process took. I initiated the process earlier this week and it took them the whole week just to request and receive the pathology slides. Who knows how long it will take to even get an appointment... any experiences would help shed light and relieve some anxiety. Thank you!!

    Hi Isee218-

We want to welcome you to BCO! We're sorry you find yourself here, but we hope this can be a source of support for you. The process will likely be different for everyone, as it depends on the schedule of the doctor and how quickly they can get you in. We sincerely hope you're able to get an appointment soon, please keep us posted!

It took my husband, who handled the process for me since I was working full time, about a week to get an appt and another week to get DVDs of tests from my docs to fed ex to the docs at MD Anderson in Phoenix who were my second opinion choice. It isn't an instant process. Your experience sounds like a normal time frame. It's worth it to get a second opinion, so I commend you for getting one. Be patient. I think most hospitals and clinics understand why we need one and usually don't make patients wait very long.
