Hematoma after BMX with TE
I would like to get some info regarding hematomas, seromas or swelling after TE placement. Maybe there is some in the TE trouble forum, but, you know, I don't really want to read that forum and search for info, I might get too scared reading all the stories...
I had BMX with TE on Jan. 21st. With local anestezia in the wounds for 2 days, the recovery was not too bad. Took the usuall prescribed pills, no opiates. Drains were removed one by one, when they had less than 20ml output a day. Now I have about 5% of pain, mostly just sore ribs from the compression and occasional pain in the wounds, more like discomfort. (My back is another story) TE's don't bother me at all, they are filled to 60ml from the operation. They are hard, but no poking or anything. I am petite and am aiming for 250ml small imlants (probably even a bit larger than my breats were).
So, to the question. Sorry it took me so long to get here. 🙂 Has any of you experienced a hematoma? How was it treated and how long did it take to resolve itself?
My descrition: There's a large hematoma on my right side (non-cancer side). My scars are horizontal in the middle, both look ok, no leakage, no reddness or anything. The hematoma starts right above the right scar and is going upwards towards my collarbone and somewhat sideways towards the axilla. Various colours, like dark violet between normal skin. It doesn't hurt, it isn't red or warm to the touch. I feel tired, but otherwise quite well, no temperature. The hematoma feels the same overall, I can feel no fluid pocket. All in all, it looks as if a horse hit me with its hoof. The violet-green colour stretches almost to my elbow on the inside of my arm, but no swelling there.
I lost a lot of red blood, had my blood checked on the 31st Jan. by my MO. All counts beatifull but the hemoglobin was very low. She consulted with the surgeon and he said this would be normal for this kind of operation and my tiny body. So my MO went ahead and I received my Herceptin. On that day, I think my hematoma got worse, the skin feels more stretched.
I was seen by a surgeon (not BS) yesterday, who said let's wait, it's big but not unusuall. I have an app. with my BS on Wednesday (in 4 days).
I wonder if there even is anything they could do, other than waiting and seeing? Is there anything I could do myself?
Any advise? I hope this is not too bad? Can somebody calm me down?

We meet again in another forum! I had hematoma post “final exchange”. Mine was painful for a bit. But settled out.
From what I know, you can go straight back to surgery. Not my vote, or wait it out for a surgery for later time. I developed capsular contracture too, but honestly I needed more revisions, so I’m scheduled to clean up scar tissue and other revisions in April.
Don’t freak and feel free to pm me!
