Biopsy ordered getting nervous
Hi - this is my first time posting.(although I posted this earlier but I think It was in the wrong forum)I'm high risk, as my mother passed away from breast cancer 2 years ago. I recently had a routine mammogram along with a follow up ultrasound and breast mri. Mammo and US only picked up clusters of cysts but MRI found suspicious mass. Mass can't be seen on mammo or US so I'm scheduled for a MRI guided biopsy next week. I'm wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar. My findings were:
FINDINGS:
Left breast: There is an angular slightly spiculated enhancing mass with plateau kinetics in the left upper outer quadrant at about the 1 o'clock position. It measures about 7 mm in diameter. Tissue sampling is recommended. Because an about 50% of the cases, and ultrasound directed by MRI due to a specific location can showed lesions that were not seen on the original ultrasound, MR directed (Second Look) ultrasound ultrasound is suggested prior to scheduling a biopsy to determine what the is the best modality to guide it.
Scattered nodular glandular enhancement elsewhere in the left breast.
Right breast: Scattered nodular glandular enhancement. No abnormal contrast enhancement worrisome for malignancy.
Lymph nodes: Normal bilateral axillary lymph nodes. No evidence of lymphadenopathy along the internal mammary chain on either side.
Thanks for any help you can offer while I'm impatiently waiting for my biopsy.

Hi Melissa- Found your post by searching for MRI biopsy as I too am waiting for my biopsy next week. Wanted to wish you the best, let you know you're not alone, and hopefully bump your post to get an answer..lol. The not knowing is difficult to say the least. I'm BRCA1 and feel like every time I have my routine tests it's a dice roll.

Hi gals! Waiting is definitely the worse part. It seemed like everything was moving in slow motion for me in the beginning. I remember thinking "Why don't they just call?!" at least 1000 times a day!! I don't have any answers for you on what your findings are. I just wanted to pop in here and wish you both the best of luck. You've got this!! Praying for good results for you both. Please keep us updated on what you find out. Sending gentle hugs to you both!!

Received a BI-RADS Category 5 "Highly suggestive of malignancy" on my recent ultrasound after finding a large lump in my right breast. The Radiologist is also recommending a lymph node survey. Next Wed, 1/30/19 I have the 8am lymph node survey, 10am meeting with breast specialist then 11:15 US guided biopsy of the breast. The lymph node ultra sound results will determine whether I will need to biopsy those as well.... A week after my 41st birthday and I am scared beyond belief... trying to stay busy and off the internet but reaching out for support. Has anyone had a similar experience? The added lymph node survey is really throwing me for a loop...

HopefulMMJS- Sorry you are in the waiting game. As Oceanbum said the waiting is the worse part. I understand how scary a BIRADS 5 is. When they did my screening mammo and US, the tech also scanned my lymph nodes, it seems they typically do that if they have found something suspicious. It is good that you are going to get to meet with the breast specialist and get everything done in one day. I imagine it will be a long day. If you can, write down any questions you may have for the breast specialist and the radiologist. They may not have any answers yet but they could give you a timeline of when and how you will receive the results. Ice packs were a huge help after my biopsy and Tylenol for the discomfort. Just take a deep breath and know that if this does come back as cancer know that you can do this, as scary as it is. I know it feels impossible but try to focus on some self care while you wait. Binge watch netflix, spend time with friends, bake a pan of brownies and eat the whole thing
Whatever you can do to just try to distract yourself while you wait. If you feel like sharing come back and let us know how it goes. We are here for you.

Thank you for your support! I made brownies last night (Thank you Dani;) and am doing a Game of Thrones marathon until Wednesday comes... He does not bring you to what he will not bring you through; I know that in my heart.

Hopeful- I hope everything went well for you today during your biopsy and consults.

Thank you Dani! They did end up doing a biopsy of the lymph node after the second US and Breast Dr. said it looks like IDC (to be prepared). I will know cancer/no cancer tomorrow then details on the characteristics of it next week. Staying positive! Thank you for thinking of me. I'll share the results.

Received confirmation it is cancer in the breast and lymph node. Waiting on the receptors to come back to know more. Meeting with oncologist on Tuesday... looks like I've graduated to the next group. The comfort I found in this forum has been such a blessing. I pray for all those awaiting their results.

Hey Hopeful,
Sorry to hear that! I'm glad your oncology meeting is so soon!
I hope that the journey forward is as easy as possible. Take good care of yourself!

Hopeful, I am sorry that you have to join this club. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions here. I will say that when you get your full path report and have a plan in place it feels a bit easier. It is good you don’t have to wait too long to see your MO. Take care, and I will keep you in my prayers
