Understanding my results

I just got my second mammogram and ultrasound results and I'm confused.

Mammogram shows no calcifications

Ultrasound shows smooth oval areas that they say are probably benign and the diagnosis is multiple complex cysts. They aren't recommending a biopsy but to repeat the ultrasound in 6 months.

Is that normal sounding?

Hi Vegas. Don't be scared about the results. Complex cysts are a common finding, and I have them as well. Three of my cousins have polycystic breasts and go in for mammograms every 6 months. I'm not an doctor, but from what I've read and after speaking with my cousins, it is normal. I hope that brings you some peace of mind. You can always request to speak with the radiologist for more information about your complex cysts and why they monitor them.

Hi there. Yes, that sounds like a normal and good finding. In non-scientific terms, cysts are squishy and malignant tumors are solid. So sounds like good news to me, but also good that they want to recheck in six months to be sure.
