Yogamom, so glad to hear that everything went well. That gives me lots of hope.

Hi, 60notpretty...I am Stage 0, Grade 2 as well. I did have to have a MRI (do to the fact that the radiologist saw another area) and blood work on Tuesday. I am really leaning toward a double mastectomy because I do not want to go on tamoxifen at all. I am meeting with a second surgeon (althought I love the first surgeon) on Monday to discuss that and to discuss nipple saving mastectomy. I know the double mastectomy sounds drastic but I want it to be over and I am not sure if I am up for it either.

HI folks, I know we are all going through a crappy experience, but isn't it great having this community? I love it that you are all sisters who share an understanding of how shocking this is. When you feel perfectly healthy and you find your body is housing this potentially terrible disease, it is indeed a shock to the system.

I find this forum helps me keep things in perspective and provides emotional support. I'm also exercising like crazy and meditating with self-guided imagery. If you are into that kind of thing, I suggest checking out Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Martin Rossman's CD "Self-Healing with Guided Imagery". I got it on amazon. If you think imagination has no part in this process, consider the fact that worrying is nothing more than your imagination thinking of worse-case scenarios. I was losing so much sleep worrying that it was making me miserable. I'm a positive person, so that just won't do. Now I am imagining healing.

This site has great resources to learn about DCIS and this forum has kind, understanding and people very generous with sharing their stories.

I am sending positive energy to those of you newly diagnosed. (I just had my first surgery on Jan. 17th and have another scheduled for Feb. 14th). The folks on this site have already helped me more than I can explain.

With much gratitude for this community.

    Hi adaverance08,

After reading all of the posts here and what everyone else is going through, nothing seems drastic to me any longer. Please keep me up to date on what you decide and how it goes. I guess I'll know more after the lumpectomy. I'm just hoping for clear margins. My surgery is scheduled for Feb. 8th. and Doc said I should know something on the 14th when I go back. I'll let you know how it goes. Best of luck to you and ((hugs)).
