Hi! I know no one here is a doctor but sometimes experience helps as a good guide for some of us that are pretty clueless. My story: I started itching a week ago on both of my breast, but my left one more excessively and developed a rash on the skin area on top of my Areola. It looks like a broken crescent moon. It doesn’t itch anymore , but considering I’m such a health freak, I immediately called my dr and got in on Tuesday . She told me it looks like a regular rash ( dermatitis) and advised to put hydrocortisone on it for a few days. I did put on for two Days but decided to google to seeif there were other treatment options and everything came up IBC!!! Since then my anxiety is through the roof! I got in to see my dermatologist who told me it was dermatitis and gave me ointment to apply for 7 days. I asked about ibc and he said that rash looked a lot different and was brigh red and sometimes had a yellow tinge, spreads to a good portion of your breast, causes itching, inflammation of the breast , An changes to your nipple. And based on my flat, non engorged , not itchy, no nipple distortion or changes, and that my rash was small and had not spread, he was confident it was dermatitis. And said if The ointment didn’t work or showed improvement, come back in seven days and he would run further tests. I’ve been using the ointment for three days now and the rash is no longer raise it’s flatten out and has started to what looks like get better But I keep looking at it I honestly can’t really tell. My question to everybody is I have read that some people said the rash went away and it came back so initially it did respond to treatment or a ointment, Should I push for further testing now wait till The treatment runs it’s course. I did have a mammogram one and a half months ago which was Normal. Thank you for all your help and I’m sorry if I sound a little too overzealous I just read so many misdiagnosed stories I just wanted to c

Wait. It sounds like you have resolving dermatitis to me.

IBC rapidly worsens, often in hours. I would trust my dosctors and give the cortisone time to work

thank you , melissadallas! I scheduled with my dr. For Tuesday and wanted to just request an ultrasound to see. Dr. Asked me to take pictures every day to see if the rash is growing or not and so far it went from bright red to pale pink and flat. Some spots must be healing as they are brown. I still want to be proactive and get all my tests done and out of the way in case .

I don’t know you, but I’ve lurked for a few days in this forum and have read a good amount ofyour posts. Thank you for your insight and hope all is well with you.
