Since June 2018, my left nipple has been dry, flaking on & off, with a small crack in the center. I have tried all imaginable creams with no steady improvement. Both my gyn & derm say it’s eczema. I saw a breast surgeon who also thinks it eczema or an allergy because she said if it was Pagets the skin would have broken open by now. Also, the surgeon found no palpable masses. I will admit, at first glance the nipple does look pretty normal but when you look carefully, the center is cracked and has tiny cauliflower like bumps. There is no open sore/skin where it is cracked. The peeling happens about once a week then it will be fine for a few days then get dry again. I don’t know what to do or believe. I’m terrified it’s Pagets but it’s also easy to brush it off like everyone else keeps doing. The worrying part to me is the cracked area...and the cyclic peeling. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ssl9281 - I had your exact same symptoms for about 3-4 months before I demanded an answer. If you haven't already, try an over the counter cortisone cream. If that doesn't work ask for a punch biopsy from a dermatologist. That is the ONLY way to diagnose Pagets. I did not have the typical symptoms. No bleeding, oozing, itchiness, none of that. Just a continuously flaking nipple. Even after diagnosis both the dermatologist and oncologist were surprised it was Pagets. Both my mammogram and ultra sound came back negative. Trust your gut!

Now I'm worried. I've had a scab forming over my right nipple since radiation. The RO, MO, and a Nurse Practitioner all think it's some kind of exzema. RO prescribed triamcinolone cream and that has made it better. Watching the area. Worried about Pagets. The NP said if it were Paget's it would move very fast. Idk about that. A bit worried myself.

I have an appointment for a biopsy with the breast surgeon on 2/13. This is a month earlier than the original follow up appointment. Still a little while away but at least it shortens the overall wait. Just scheduling the biopsy is terrifying. I almost don’t want to know what the results will be but I know I have to face this regardless, if not for my physical health but my mental health.
