I found an oval firm movable painless lump in my left breast. I am 52 and perimenopausal. I went to see my Gynecologist and he said he didn’t think it was anything to worry about but scheduled me for diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. My question is this area of my breast was biopsied about 5 years ago with all benign findings. No atypia so is it normal to have an area is this breast that is more active and would need more biopsies.

I've had lumps similar to what you described since late teens. They would kind of show up out of nowhere and then just stick around for 10+years; never causing any problems. Each new one I found, I was sent for Ultrasound. Each time, they ended up being fibroadenomas and non-cancerous. Fingers crossed that's all it will be, but be sure to follow through with the diagnostic mammo and us, because they can show so much more!
