Zoladex causing Flu-Like symptoms?

Has anyone experienced this? It could be a coincidence, but last month I came down with a bad cold the day after my Zoladex injection. I ended up with a sinus infection and cough that I was given a z-pack for. I had my third Zoladex injection on Christmas Eve and then last night...sick again. Headache, bodyaches, stuffy/runny nose, etc. It's like groundhog day.

My daughter was sick last week so it is entirely possible that I just picked up something else, but it does seem a little suspicious. I guess if it happens again after next month's shot I will know for sure. Here I was feeling pretty good about this whole hormone suppression routine.

Sidalee, I have not taken Zoladex but I have a friend who has been Stage IV for 16 years. Major side effect...flu like symptoms the first few days following the injection.

    Hope you will feel better

I get two 3.6 injections per month. I always after about 5 minutes get weak and nauseous and dizzy. Then I feel like crap for the next few days. It's never changed. Been doing it for years.

Hi Tessa, sorry to hear that you have been dealing with those side effects for so long! My MO decided to switch me to Lupron this month--had that shot for the first time on Tuesday and so far so good, no reaction. Is there any chance that you could try Lupron instead?

    Hello Sidalee,

I've had my first zoladex injection last Thursday and have felt flu-like symptoms for the last 4 days. feels not great.

what we do to keep the cancer at bay and bones strong.

    I hope this passes quickly.

    Best of luck to you.
