Armpit sweat and pain

Hi! First, who would like to adopt my 3 year old Chocolate Lab? My very energetic, Kong crazy, never lets me rest, Lab! jk. She's good company, but she's got too much energy!

My question:. Is increased armpit perspiration common after a mastectomy? My husband and I saw the breast surgeon yesterday and she told me that 8 nodes lit up and were removed during surgery. Is there any correlation between that and a clammy armpit.

It is very uncomfortable in that my skin there is very tender and has a burning sensation, and as I move my arm, etc, it feels as if the area is getting chafed. My clinical anti perspirant works fine on the other arm. I bought some spray anti-perspirant today and it worked well for a few hours. Not now.

Has anyone experienced this?

Have a good evening!

labmom, hi there! I'm not sure about the node correlation. I recall never feeling "clean" for awhile. I felt like my armpit was always sticky is the best I can describe. A shower felt so good! I recall it lasting a few months to be honest. The skin was very sensitive. Even my sheet touching the area would hurt. I still keep aquaphor on hand and use it after a year. It's great if you actually do get chafing. Used it on drain sites, anywhere.

Lol, my 2 cats would not welcome a lab sister. I hope you heal quickly!!

I didn't have a mastectomy, but with any soft-tissue surgery, I've found weird drippy sensations afterwards. I wasn't actually damp, it was all a trick of the nerve endings.

I definitely had weird armpit things happening after surgery. I was extra sweaty and more stinky. 6 weeks post op things seem to be normalizing although I can’t use solid deodorant at all...the thought of it makes me cringe. Ouch!

    Hi,

My armpit on my lumpectomy side (lumpectomy 2 weeks ago) is definitely more stinky than the other one...skin is also chafed. Weird

Yes, increased sweating (and associated yuck) for sure after sentinel node biopsy and lumpectomy. It eventually went away.

kec, aquaphor is great for chafed areas. I still use it. Kb2115 your "associated yuck" is a perfect descriptor lol Thankfully, it does resolve!

Not sure my middle age dogs would welcome a lab sister. I would!

The ROs nurse told me I wouldn’t sweat on the rads side. She was right. I don’t sweat on the other side either. I had bmx. Strange. I’m in Florida it’s hot and humid most of the year. Haven’t bought, used, or needed deodorant for 7 years
