I had a double mastectomy without reconstruction

Options

I had a double mastectomy without reconstruction done on October, 5th, 2017. Since I didn't get the reconstruction done could I smoke? I didn't get the implants or anything put in them. I went completely flat.

Mommabear, I'm not sure what reconstruction or not has to do with whether you can smoke. If you have given up smoking, it wouldn't be a good idea to start again but I don't see why you couldn't if that's what you choose to do, assuming that your lungs are okay and you don't have any other specific medical reason not to. If you're in doubt, you could talk to your doctor about it.

I had bmx. No reconstruction. Been a smoker for over 50 years. If you quit, why start again?

I just had a right mastectomy and left implant removal. I opted for completely flat. I was tired of advice from people who did not have my problem of scar tissue recurring, and could not see having to worry about the remaining breast developing cancer, and how would I ever, ever, achieve symmetry? Am I alone?

My mom quit smoking, when she found out, she had stage 4 breast cancer. She never went back. I was kind of glad that she didn't, because she suffered a lot with the treatments and I don't think she'd have made it even five years, if she just started up again.

Why would you want to? Think of it from this perspective the drug, meaning the cigarettes, had control of you before, now you have control of it. You've taking back your life, it would be a shame to let the addiction take control of you again.

MommaBear, congratulations on quitting! Staying quit will be the best gift you have ever given yourself. If you are like me, It may be quite a while before you are no longer tempted and stop waking up from dreams in which you were smoking, but that time will come and you will feel soooo good!

Just want to say thank you all for the reply back. I don't want to start back up I was just wondering. It's going on two years since I quite. But if I did start back up I would buy the kind that don't contain nicotine or tabbcoo in them. The only way to get them is off line cause they arent in any stores around me.
