Had Bilat MX; growing lump in prophylactic side

Options

LEFT side initial cancer DX. I had a Bilat MX 08/18/2014. Final recon Feb 20th 2015.

I have felt lumps and bumps in R breast, assured it was scar tissue. Cool, got it.

One lump is fairly hard and has grown. Going to Oncologist to request breast MRI since I do not have mammograms.

Anyone have a recurrence like this? Anyone have a hard growing lump that was not cancer..?

I had 3 different lumps assessed after BMX at various times. 2 were not cancer, 1 was. Insist on MRI and/or biopsy. My docs were 99% sure mine was benign and said there was no reason to biopsy, but my gut said otherwise, so I insisted. Hoping yours is benign.

Have you had any imaging done at all on any of these lumps and bumps?

I had a lump develop behind the areola on the cancer side about three months after my surgery. My MO was not concerned. My PS wanted me to see the BS. The BS sent me for US and mammo (with implants). The consensus was fat necrosis and the plan was for f/u imaging in three months.

For a while - it continued to grow. It could be easily felt but did not really show on imaging. I had just about decided to just have it removed - despite the risks - to have some piece of mind. I ended up requesting an MRI, figuring that I wanted to be sure nothing else was going on if they were doing a lumpectomy.

The MRI was fine - no evidence of anything. The area has finally started to decrease in size and isn't as obvious. I just saw the BS again recently and I think I'm finally okay with just leaving it alone. I was so worried for so long and now I worry more about causing aproblem and for nothing.

I hope you get the MRI and that it's very reassuring!

Nope, no further imaging, have not told my physician. Mainly because I would not do chemo again, or entertain RADs, and I know if it was cancer then I would have to see a new Oncologist since mine moved away 2.5 years ago. I saw her last in 2016.

IDK if a new Oncologist would be supportive of the fact that I just cannot handle chemo again-mentally or physically. I am a Nurse, hospice nurse, so I am not in the mood for physician lectures..

My breast surgeon retired , but he recommended someone to see IF I ever needed anything.. I may see a surgeon first.

I have no mammos to gram, as my breast surgeon used to say, so it would have to be an MRI.

I have 685cc implants, and double MX, although I did keep my nipples.

Yes - I had a BMX as well. I was surprised that they did a mammogram. They started with the US and then decided a mammo would be helpful. I didn't know that you could even do those with implants! But it was much, much different than with real breasts - very little compression. And it gave them more info.

I think that a breast surgeon is going to be your best bet for thorough care on this.

When I had breast MRI, they insisted on mammo and ultrasound first which was a huge wast of money since I have implants (which they knew.

I just had a series of tests on my UMX breast - the scar tissue I had started to grow 7 years later. It was fat necrosis and the

Radiologist told me it can occur or get larger years later. A surgeon referred me for the tests because I had seen her for a prophylactic

    MX on the other side.

Please do get it checked! No lectures from me - I get the fears.

How large? So when I compare my memory of the 1.7 cm lump to this, it is EASILY double the size.

Can fat necroses be 3+ cm?

I have some fears because I just cannot do chemo again. It was so awful that I quit the first time. I am open to the biologics though.

The past is past. You had to do what you had to do; never look back or question decision. We all react differently to different drugs. Do not let that sway you from getting checked.

I am seeing my Oncologist on Feb 6th.

She is understanding of my choice to never do chemo again, and I am thankful for that.

I had IDC & TNBC. My radiation ended November 2018. This month..3 months later I found a lump right below my right rib cage. Going to have Bone scan..CT /dye of my abdomen & chest & blood work. Has anyone else have this happen after only 3 months or something like that. I will let you know what I find out. Nervous!!
