Enlarged Axillary lymph node

good afternoon to all. Im hoping for some help/education and hopefully some reassurance.

Last night my wife told me she found wht appears to be a swollen axillary lymph node under her right arm. I have her trying to get an appointment with her OB asap.

She was in for a breast exam with her OB back in september and everything was fine. We did get an ultrasound back in december of 17 on her left armpit but that turned out to be excess breast tissue from the recent delivery of our now 14 month old boy.

Does this sound fishy to anyone? Is it worse if it shows up in the lymph node first without signs in the breast? Im just very worried and hope to get some advice.

Hi Hubbieworry, We understand how changes can be alarming. Here is a list of breast cancer symptoms just to have as a reference, but probably best to have it looked at to ease your worries.

Not fishy at all. It is not at all uncommon to have a small patch of normal breast tissue under one's arm. It can cycle with the rest of the normal breast tissue and cause similar monthly symptoms.

In pregnancy these patches can get very large. I have seen at least one case where this phenomenon was visible from across the room having the appearance of door knobs hanging down from the patient's arm pits.

thanks for the replys. We have an appt with the Dr tomorrow morning at 9:40. Hopefully they will tell us it is nothing to be concerned about
