Just found out on Jan 9th,2019 from my breast surgeon i have DCIS in my right breast. unclear the exact stage just yet, i have an appt with an oncologist thur and i'm kinda freaked out. I have a strong hx of cancer in my family. My mother has breast cancer twice in her right breast i her 40's and just last year in her late 60's which resulted in a double mastectomy. she has had 3 brothers die from cancer, 2 from lung and one from bone cancer and her sister also had breast cancer resulting in a single mastectomy. Cancer is also on my father's side of the family, so you can see why i am a little freaked. My excisional biopsy report shows a grade 3 dcis size 8.7cm, my margins were positive, so i'm assuming i will need more sx and have my lymph nodes tested. in initially had a needle core biopsy done which surprisingly came back negative, after i had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound that all pointed to cancer. i insisted the mass be removed and thank GOD i did. Sorry for the long post, i just need an outlet.

We are here for you to share all you need! Indeed, so great that you advocated to get the lump removed. Have you had genetic testing?Based on what you are saying, it sounds like something you may want to discuss with your treatment team. Please let us know how we can best help you.

Stephanie980, you’re in the right place to vent, question and get support! Sorry about your diagnosis. Even though you’ve had a lot of cancer exposure it’s a whole new game for you and a lot to take in. Will keep you in my thoughts as you go through all those appointments/testing to figure out what the game plan is for you. It does get easier! Hug
