edited January 2019 in Not Diagnosed But Worried

I have had 2 large circular hard red rash in chest the first one was within last 6 months on middle inner left breast was there over a month, no pain slight itch when touched went away on own 4-6 weeks no treatment. About a month ago have another similar red welt that is hard on upper outer edge of left breast about inch in diameter. Husband says looks like you got bug bite. It has since faded center looked like it had dot in middle as it was fading started out bright red appeared over night. Took about 4-6 weeks to go away but it is almost unnoticeable now. No swelling. No pain. Breast sizes are same, nipples normal. I googled last night i have freaked myself out with reading IBC early symptoms can be bug bite like mark one breast. Now that spot is barely recognizable not sure doctor would run any tests. Anyone have thoughts I am very worried, I am in early 40's with small child. One small sense of relief is both spots did go away on own however took along time. Should also say I have rib and back pain for months getting worse, right side is worse then left PCP thinks costcocodritis but now I am worried IBC that spread.

Thank you, good luck to everyone.

I should add I have had mammogram April 2017, normal but externally dense breast tissue.

I have been seeing naturopathic doctor feeling fatigued last several years have high inflammation markers in blood work including CRP high sensitivity ranging from 5 to 18 over last year and half normal is 0.9. Havent found source of inflammation. Was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy possible autoimmune cause.

Not sure if anything is related, still very nervous and anxious can't sleep with worry so totally exhausted.

The skin changes associated with IBC never go away. They progress unremittingly.

Speaking from experience here, definitely not IBC.

I would suspect Lyme disease. Testing for Lyme is complicated. It has to be done long enough after the bite for antibodies to have formed. And there are still false negatives. Make sure to have a Western Blot done, not just an Elisa. And get the Western Blot interpreted by a "Lyme literate" doctor. Some feel that even one positive band caused only by the Lyme bacteria, is enough for diagnosis, but the CDC diagnosis is different. Your whole picture suggests Lyme to me.

thank you windingshores. I have had the western blot and we did rule out lyme disease. So still trying to figure out the high inflammation factors and after reading some cases of ibc start with insect bite like mark I am in panic mode. We have also ruled out many autoimmune diseases. I might try to get in with dermatologist for a look but it is mostly gone now wish I went a month ago when it was bright red.

I did one post from the ibc diagnose forum where women gf ad spider bite like red msrk/bruise and took 19 months for her to be diagnosed so now i am worried again.

"...took 19 months for her to be diagnosed"

If she was alive after 19 months I doubt whether it was inflammatory breast cancer which is rapidly fatal as noted in the article I posted above. If your skin changes have resolved your rib and back pain are unrelated to metastatic inflammatory breast cancer and require separate evaluation.

Have your doctor order a mammogram and ultrasound and check back here when you have the results to post.

Many docs don't know how to read a Western Blot, and there are false negatives. Send me a private message with your positive bands and I will at least pass on what my doctor has told me.  My cousin just had a rash that sounds a lot like yours. Her first Lyme test was negative but then it turned positive. Or try antibiotics if someone will give them, If you have autoimmune tendencies, avoid doxycycline, minocycline and tetracycline.

thank you I will try find my results or contact my doctor to get them thank you. I live in desert now but grew up in new England so tick bite in childhood might not be out of question.

update I know have left nipple itching and growing more concerned from rash on same side able to see pcp tomorrow morning. Hopefully it is my anxiety playing tricks on me but feel better getting checked out by doc. No swelling no orange peel so that is good. Thanks everyone for all the informative posts.

just saw pcp she is concerned. Ordering mam and ultrasound for hopefully today or tomorrow. There is some firmness in left breast compared to right. Increased vein presence on left but no swelling or texture change so hopefully that will lead to positive news. Anxiety levels are off the chart and now going into long weekend.

    update

Had normal mam and us last week thursday just noted dense tissue beign calcification on report after being worried for ibc.

Red spot in chest wall came back Friday same spot as last time 2 mos ago gotten larger and redder since Friday.

Saw dermatologist monday said contact dermatitis gave steroid cream come back in month.

Tuesday saw breast surgeon reviewed radiologist reports did exam said confident red spot not related to breast. Recommended seeing allergist for something going on internally.

Today saw allergist he and PA were unsure what red spot is. Not contact dermatitis or from something I have eaten. It is size quarter midway on chest above left breast started as 3 small bumps now one large one red in color raised, hard not itchy. He is unsure what causing it so recommended punch biopsy. Scheduled for biopsy tomorrow with appt to get results on 7th.

Please keep me in your thoughts.
