I just received my reports from biopsy and was told I need to see a surgical oncologist. My ob/gyn said its non invasive but I dont understand the report it says cells are positive for E-cadherin and Strongly positive for estrogen receptors.

When I look that up one says invasion because of the E -Cadherin but my dr said non invasive, and everyone says dcis is non invasive. I'm so confused..

I’ve never heard of e-cadherin, so I don’t know. I would definitely consult with your surgeon. I know you can be diagnosed with dcis + another invasive cancer, but I don’t know if that’s your case. I hope you can let us know how you’re doing. Everything I have read/heard says pure dcis is noninvasive.

I go Monday for my lumpectomy, I have 6cm of clustered microcalcifications, 2 separate groups. I asked the surgeon and she said she will not diagnose until all the pathology comes back from lumpectomy. Everything I have read states dcis. On one slide it was negative for dcis, and 7 others said atypical ductal hyperplasia proliferation, with mitotic figures noted, nuclear grade 2. Strongly positive for Estrogen receptors. Cribiform architecture. I have a feeling it will be dcis.

Sunshine what surgery did you end up having? I too have over 6cm dcis and I am trying to decide what to do.

    Thanks
