Breast implants over pectoral muscle Questions

Options

Hello

I have had Breast implants placed under the pectoral muscles for 3 years now. I can no longer stand the discomfort, pain and weakness. I have a hard time opening jars, reaching over my head, and severe weakness. I can no longer do the activities I use to do such as kayaking. Looking into surgery to remove these bricks from my chest and either getting a prosthesthis or implants over my muscle. Previous PS never told me that she would have to cut into my muscle. Has anyone had a revision with implants over the muscle? If so, what was the outcome and results?

Many thanks for any info regarding this.

Hi Nancy, my first recon was implant under the pec muscle, which I hated too! It was always jumping up when I worked out, in the weirdest way, so uncomfortable. Because of radiation, my skin tightened up and I had to have the latissimus dorsai flap recon, and they put the implant on top of the pectoral muscle. It is so much better, the pec muscle is back to reacting normally and I do weight training, so I really appreciate the difference. Everything just feels much, much better. I have a very good plastic surgeon, I healed very well and it feels almost like before recon. Personally I recommend it

    Hi

Thanks you so much for your reply. I feel more encouraged to undergo this surgery. I wish I had this option 3 years ago. Yes, it feels like my implant will almost pop out when reaching overheard or opening a jar. Very tight and heavy feeling. It sounds like you have been through a lot. I am Survivor of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 1 B but had to get a mastectomy because there were two tumors on each side of my breast. I wish all the best for you in your journey!

There is an extensive thread about this on this site called:

    TE/Implant OVER pectoral

Do a search and you will find many people in your boat who switched from under the muscle to over. All the best to you
