Hello wonderful ladies,

I just got a compression sleeve for mild lymphedema. Mostly upper arm. If you have one, did you start with wearing it all day? It is not painful but it does feel tight. How were your first days with your sleeve?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Jojo

Jojobird, good question! Hopefully you were properly fitted for the sleeve by your lymphedema therapist or a trained fitter, yes? Start off with a couple of hours (or even just an hour) at a time, and see how your arm responds. Work up gradually to all day (or whatever your therapist has recommended). Most important times for using your sleeve would be for exercise, any unusual activities, lifting anything (groceries, for instance), and driving, so maybe start out with those times and work up.

Here's some information about the way a sleeve should fit and feel:

You don't mention a glove or gauntlet (fingerless "glove"), but you might want to consider getting some hand protection as well. Here's why:

Good for you for being on top of this early! Gentle hugs,

Thank you so much, Binney! I did get a gauntlet. All of this was fitted. It’s a beautiful henna tattoo style. I really appreciate your suggestions and links. Hopefully all will go well. Many thanks

When I first begin to were my sleeve it was a little tight. I found out it is best to were it when you are actively up and about. I take the sleve off at night or when I take a nap. It does feel a little tight at first but after continiously wearing the compresion sleeve ,I noticed the swelling did go down and less pain in the arm and hand.
