Worried/scared but trying not to be...
I started itching 3 to 4 weeks ago, but didn't pay attention to it until it wasn't going away. When I finally really looked this week there is a reddish rough area a little larger than a large egg. I took a picture of both breast and sent them to my friend that is an ob/gyn. She texted me back right away and had her nurse call me to set up an appointment. I see her tomorrow morning and I'm pretty nervous/scared.... Mostly I think because she thought I should be seen so soon.
In the beginning can areas be smaller and grow? I have mostly just itching with occasional throbbing in that area.
Thank you for listening/reading, I don't want to talk to anyone else and let on how scared I am....

dmerri18, welcome.
We're so sorry you're here and worrying. Try not to get ahead of yourself -- it's very likely that this is nothing to worry about, but it's good you're being diligent about your breast health and seeing your doctor. Take a deep breath, and we're hoping you'll feel better after your appointment tomorrow morning. Please keep us posted with what you find out.

Thank you! I've always said being a nurse or in the medical profession isn't always a good thing... Worrying about things others might not!

It could be eczema. My husband gets random patches every place imaginable. Don't get too worried yet. Is it in the crease of the breast?
-
no it's on the side by the nipple. My granddaughter gets eczema and this looks nothing like that.
Thanks!

It sounds like either this doctor is your friend, or you got the appointment via the help of a friend who is a doctor. The speed could very easily be a professional courtesy thing. Or they just had the appointment open, and offices would rather have filled slots than open ones. Try not to read too much into it! For all you know, she isn't worried much at all but is thinking that you might be freaking out and thinks she's doing you a favor by rushing you in so soon!

I saw my doctor yesterday and she is hopeful that it's mastitis, so on antibiotics. She told me to text her Monday if there isn't a great improvement and we will talk about proceeding with ultrasound and biopsy.
So hopefully I'll be seeing some improvement soon. Unfortunately being a nurse that likes plans my brain goes to the what if's, and being ready. I'd much rather be prepared and not need it than not. Just things like knowing who best doctor in town would be, are there drs with ibc experience.
Thank you for all the encouragement!
