As I'm going for my last treatment of A/C on the 15th, I will have to do 12 weeks of taxol. Then surgery. But with this I have been nauseated a little. I have been experiencing hot flashes and my sex drive is completely gone. I feel bad for my husband even if I wanted to be intimate I feel so dry. Has anyone else experience this, if so please tell me it will get better.

Hi there, so many of us can share the side effects of chemo you mentioned. You might find help on the chemo boards for side effects, and usually there are monthly groups that form at the chemo board--in other words, if you began chemo in November 2018, there should be a large group of us who also began chemo the same month, and have gathered for support.

Sex during chemo was a lost cause for me. My husband just had to deal with it. My libido wasn't completely gone, but sex was just so painful!. I tried lubricant and it didn't help. My NP recommended Replens, said it would help if the tissue was dried out so I tried that and sex was still painful. I think my mucous membranes were just raw - I was getting nosebleeds during chemo and sores all over my mouth and sometimes a sore throat, no reason to think things weren't going awry down there too. Things cleared up not long after chemo ended though. I was well enough to enjoy it again between the end of chemo and my BMX. There were other women in my chemo thread that had the same problem so you are definitely not alone.

if you have been thrown into menopause and if your cancer is hormone positive it will probably not get better. This is something that so many of us are dealing with. I'm sorry your going through it.

I've been struggling with being intimate before I was diagnosed because of my hysterectomy and hormones. Very frustrating but my husband is so wonderful and patient. I know its going to get worse once I start chemo. I'm sorry you are going through this but you are not alone.

Thanks ladies for the advice and words of encouragement. With mine being hormone positive. I just hope once Chemo is over and my thryoid came back negative and not in premenopausal. Hope this will be over. I never felt so emotional over not being able to do things as a woman.

I was 42 at my dx and it's been hard but ... My guy is very supportive and I know that what we have and my self worth is because of who I am. I have lost my sex life that I had, my looks and my money. The sex part takes work but you do adjust and improvise. Just so you know chemo can kill anybody's sex drive, it's like trying to get excited when you have the flu lol. Give yourself a break and reevaluate after the chemo has had a few months to be out of your system. Sending you hugs.
