I'm new here 32 years old. Found a lump in my left breast (upper chest, 1/2 o'clock position). Went to my GYN today and she felt it too. She described it as being ropey and that she never felt any cancer like that. Needless to say it doesn't make me feel any better because I've seen some describe their lump the same way and theirs turned out to be cancer. Supposed to go have a mammogram and ultrasound Thursday. I'm just really scared at this point because I have a sinking feeling it will be cancer. Mom was diagnosed in 2015. And my second cousin was diagnosed last year. I'm hoping and praying for the best though. Any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi SCgirl33-

We're so sorry you're experiencing this worry! We know it can be a scary time. Try to keep your mind busy, and remember that the majority of lumps turn out to be benign! Please keep us posted after your mammogram and ultrasound, we'll be thinking of you!

Had mammogram and ultrasound today and nothing showed up on them. Dr said just regular breast tissue

Great news! I'm so glad for you SCgirl33 and I hope you'll be cancer-free for the long haul.

Breast cancer is sadly incredibly common, I'm sorry it hit your family twice so recently. You could ask about genetic testing if your doctor thinks it could be helpful information.
