New port...again.

Well my 2nd port made it through my skin and my awesome medical team was able to get me in to have it replaced the same day, the process of during which I was reminded of why I needed it...tiny, hard to find, unreliable veins.

They decided to put it on the other side as there was not much space to put it on the side the first two had been, and they managed to get it deep enough that I can't see or feel it protruding as I could the other two, so hopefully it will be with me for the remainder of time that I need it.

But I wanted to say, I woke up this morning worse off than I woke up from the bmx, or first two port implantations from and I was stuck on my back because I didn't use the bed wedge as I didn't anticipate I would need it as I the previous two port placements did not impair my mobility to nearly the same extent. But now I have incisions on both sides and somehow they got this port deeper than the others and my muscles were not happy about it.

So there I was, stuck on my back, alone, having desperately to pee and the techniques the nurses showed me to get out of bed after my bmx weren't working because I was lying flat. I finally managed to get myself up after some trial and error but who would ever anticipate that bilateral port incisions would feel worse than a bilateral mastectomy with (pre pec) expander placement.

Funny how things work like that.
