This is amazing! Makes me a little sad since I just had DIEP the “old fashioned” way, but I am very happy that this will benefit future cancer survivors

Yes, timing is everything. With 2 daughters in their 20’s and a strong family history, I am glad there are advancements being made. I get sad when I think of my sister being diagnosed in 2004. I think if we knew then what we know now she would have lived a lot longer than her almost 4 years with MBC.

The above is a link to the 2018 surgery group of women who had DIEP in 2018. I had mine done in 2017 and there is a thread for that too. I don’t regret my DIEP at all. So happy I cjhose this route

Yes, could definitely be a game changer, maybe in 2-5 years it will be available in other places. But for now, the only women who can get it need to qualify for a study and go to Pennsylvania.

I am trying to find information on clinical studies where they grow a new breast using biodegradable scaffolding and own fat. Australia promises to start clinical human trials in 2019. Let us know if you find it
