Hi Everyone!

I had a mammogram a couple of weeks ago. Just a screening, didn't feel a lump or have any signs. It came back dirty for a posterior mass and was called back in for 3D mammogram. After they were finished with it, they took me to ultrasound which I didn't expect. The radiologist was in the room for the ultrasound and talked to me about what they were seeing. He went out of the room, called my Dr. and got an order for a core biopsy. No anxiety....yet. I already had an appt scheduled at MD Anderson Cancer Center to discuss genetic testing so while I was there, we discussed doing the biopsy there instead of where the original tests were done. She did an exam and also found an axillary lymph node to be enlarged. Now I'm panicking a bit! I'm a BIRADS 4 (no letters following) and scheduled for another mammogram and ultrasound with core biopsy on Jan 2nd. This is so unnerving.

hello! Try not to panic...although I completely understand why you would be doing so. That was a scary experience that you just had. I had a similar experience and when the people start coming in and out of the rooms and calling more people in...it’s distressing! I also had an enlarged lymph node which was scary but turned out to be nothing.

I had a Birads 4 come back benign...many of them do. Try to learn about the biopsy procedure for now so you feel prepared. There will be some good resources on this site for that. Breathe, and continue about your life as normally as you can.

    Hugs!

Thank you for the response! I'm trying to put it out of my mind but find myself feeling somewhat frozen every time I attempt to do something that keeps my brain busy. Thanks for sharing your positive story!
