Time from abnormal screening to diagnostic/us

I have calclifications and I had a 2nd mammogram 2 weeks ago and just now having my biopsy tomorrow. The waiting is awful.

It takes time. I'm still in the work-up phase myself. Screening 3D mammo on 11/12/18; diagnostic ultrasound on 11/21/18; u/s guided core needle biopsy on 12/4/18; surgery consult for excisional biopsy on 12/17/18; and breast MRI on 12/22/18. My CNB was benign, but discordant. (Basically came back as just fatty tissue.) Excisional biopsy is scheduled for 1/10/18. The waiting is hard, but there are lots of distractions this time of year. Let yourself enjoy try to enjoy the distractions. It's something like 80% of call backs don't require any further action, and from there, 80% of biopsies are benign, so keep that at the forefront of your mind.

Timeliness of Care

"Times to biopsy following abnormal mammogram and to treatment following positive biopsy have been considered as quality of care indicators (Kaufman et al., 2010; Landercasper et al., 2010; Logan et al., 2013; Richardson et al., 2010). Among more than 175 members of the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC), the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC) program identified medians of 7 days for the former, 14 days for the latter and 28 days from abnormal mammogram to treatment (Kaufman et al., 2010) as measures of timely care."

My mamorgram, US, and biopsy were all done on the same day. I got the biopsy results 2 days later. It was a whirlwind.

I had my screening mammogram, diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound all in the same day. The biopsy I had a few weeks later, only because it was Christmas time and I didn't want to be physically uncomfortable during the holidays..........I could have had my biopsy the following week.
