Painful lump in TRAM reconsructed beast

Options

I had a mastectomy in 2010 followed by immediate TRAM reconstruction. Everything has been fine until now and I've discovered a hard lump which is painful when I press on it, in my reconstructed breast. I may have missed it when checking on earlier occasions as it is on the outside of the breast down in the fold where the breast meets the rib cage. Naturally I'm anxious. As it's Christmas Eve I can't see a doctor here in UK for 3 days due to public holidays. Has anyone had a similar experience of a lump in a reconstructed breast? Any help or advice would be welcome.

    Dear Irene100,

Welcome to the BCO community. We are sorry that you are having these changes in your breast and the anxiety that such can bring especially at holiday time. The boards seem quiet today as well and we regret that you have not received any feedback to date. You might also try to post in the Reconstruction Forum where your question might catch someone's eye who has had reconstruction. We hope that you can distract yourself from the worry and try not to jump to the conclusion that it is cancer. Keep us posted on what you learn and let us know if there is anything we can do to be of help.
