Forgot my aromasin while traveling?

Hi all,

Looks like I forgot to pack my aromasin. I’m traveling for about six days. Should I worry? I’ve been taking it religiously for at least three years now, and don’t really want to get the rx filled for just a few days.

Do you get your prescriptions filled at a chain drugstore (e.g. CVS or Walgreen's)? If so, you can probably find a branch of that drugstore nearby. They can look up your prescription on computer and give you a few emergency tablets. I've done this before, and it's worked OK.

Yup, try a pharmacy. They would probably sell you just the # of pills you need. Same chain = easy. If not, still talk with the pharmacist and they might try to help you. Prescriptions can be transferred and then transferred back. If it were me and I forgot my tamoxifen, I would try to get some pills rather than skip it.

Should be ok without a few days. Some here take approved breaks for a week or two.

Aromatise inhibitors stay in the body for 2-3 days maximum. So, regularity is paramount. Unlike Tamoxifen, which can build up in the body for longer periods the same isn’t true of AIs.

Have a lovely break and good luck deciding what’s best for you

I’ll be without for about four days. One Walgreens would fill as an emergency and not charge me but can’t get it in till Wednesday and I’ll be home Thursday. The other Walgreens wants to charge me $117 since they won’t honor emergency refilsand wants me to pay cash for five pills. Any further advice?

Honestly if it were me I wouldn’t worry about it too much. So many women take breaks because of SEs—honestly the probability that something would pop up in the next few days has got to be zero.

I agree with Ingerp. It's only four days. My MO just allowed me to take a month long break due to side effects.

Please don't worry about missing four days. My MO considers non-compliance to be a week or more off medication. The half-life of Aromasin is 24 hours, so chances are it is still working on some level. Eat some festive aromatase-inhibiting foods and enjoy your holiday vacation!

Thanks sisters, and merry Christmas! I’ll go out tomorrow and eat some broccoli!
