Allergic reaction to Taxol?

hello everyone! Hoping someone could lend some guidance or insight into what I'm experiencing. Last Thursday, I had my second weekly infusion of taxol. Didn't have any allergic reactions during the infusion. Starting last week, I had shortness of breath and as the days passed, my chest felt tighter and I had upper back pain. Yesterday, I felt like I was having a heart attack. I went to the ER this morning. They gave me a full workout. CT of chest was clear. I go for a heart stress test in the morning. I'm reading the symptoms of allergic reactions to taxol and I feel like I have them, except delayed? I'm 41 and never had back pain in my life. The pain I feel in my back is excruciating. The doctors can't figure out what's wrong between my chest and my back. Any similar experiences

sadlynew, I had horrible back pain (and most of the other “severe reactions" during my 1st infusion of taxotere and taxol, eventually switching to abraxane, which was tolerable. The back pain was so intense, I was given morphine. Both chemos also caused serious changes in blood pressure, twitching, flushing and nausea. Typically, reactions happen within the 1st 10 minutes but you never know. Good luck.

so I am allergic to taxol. I can tell you the reaction is immediate. I had an anaphylactic reaction during my first infusion, and later, at a later infusion a hypertensive reaction where my heart went to 200 beats per minute. But both were while I was in the chair. Talk to you MO about delayed reaction? But I dont think it happens that way.

I had what my MO called a severe allergic reaction to taxotere. Started about 10 minutes after I finished the first infusion. I swelled up all over, eventually lost all my nails, couldn’t eat, drink, walk. Hurt to walk, but I don’t remember back pain. I’d already done 4 a/c, after this he stopped all chemo.

    Good wishes to you.
