Seriously freaking out

Options

Looking for some help, in October I hurt my back picking up a case of water. I never rested or took time to rest, I continued with my daily activity such as moving furniture to clean and picking up heavy stuff. Since my back pain hasn’t gone away, I went to my primary physician and she took a X-ray and said she saw no sign of cancer. My chiropractor said it looks like I have some arthritis and I have a slight curve in my spine.

On Tuesday I went for routine blood work and it shows elevated ALP, normal is 40-112 and I’m at 117. My calcium is slightly elevated but still in normal range. I have no other symptoms. I’m not fatigued, I haven’t lost weight and I actually get relief from laying down. My back is usually aggravated when I sit to long. I have an appointment with my oncologist on Tuesday and I’m seriously freaking out! My body hurts all the time, thanks to Arimidex.

Maybe I’m venting because I’m stressed and trying to prepare myself for the worst news

Momdin, you should certainly take care of your back problem but there is nothing in your description that would point to BC return. It's good you have an appt with your MO who might order more tests to rule out BC but again, the timeline, symptoms, X-ray results and basic blood work do not indicate anything BC related.

If this started from nowhere it would be a different story, but you hurt your back which triggered the onset of your symptoms. Plus you get relief from laying down. The likelihood of this being disc trauma or hernia or arthritis, etc is much higher than BC return. But you certainly need to get it evaluated and treated.

Momdin, definitely ask for an MRI or pet scan. I had 3 sets of X-rays that showed nothing but a little arthritis in my right hip. I had the same experience, the same symptoms as you. For 5 months we chased rabbits and I steadily got worse. An orthopedic ordered an MRI and found 5 lesions in my left sacrum/iliac jointright where the pain was. I feel bad about scaring you but it's you body so get that piece of mind . It may be nothing but you need to know. Please keep us posted. Hugs and peace. Jo

Joe777 how come you didn't have a bone scan. I've been having left hip pain for a week and just had a bone scan so I am scared out of my mind. You didn't find out for 5 months? I thought a bone scan picks that up.

Between onc visits and all my blood work and mammograms were normal. Had an accident with a dog and thought I had hurt my back. Insurance kept blaming doctors for not coding right for a scan-it was October and I'm pretty sure insurance stalled to push it into new year. The doctor tried 3 times and I gave up until all avenues were exhausted.
