Nipple Reconstruction

Hi everyone! Has anyone had or will be having nipple reconstruction ? Looking for any suggestions or information on how it turned out. I’m scheduled for surgery in a few weeks and would appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks

Hi Gram,
Thanks for posting! We're sure others will be by shortly to weigh in on their experiences with nipple reconstruction, but in the meantime, we wanted to share with you the main Breastcancer.org site's section on Nipple Reconstruction for lots of helpful info.
We hope this helps!

They doctors made me some “new nipples” - they have already gone flat, so....I have no nipples now. I used to have great nipples.
I now feel deformed and am very unhappy about this. I just want my boobs to look and feel normal to me. I don’t think I will ever show my boobs to anyone again, not ever!!!

i have decided not to have any nipple reconstruction. I dont want fake nipples. Tattoos or press on nipples. Noone will see them except me and my husband. They will have no feeling anyway. I decided its not worth it. Ill keep my "barbie boobs". And be happy with those.

I plan to but I am pretty much in the same boat you are in right now.

I’m planning on doing nipple recon. It will be months after my exchange though. After the nipple recon I’ll do the aereola tattooing and some to cover the pinkness of my scars. I don’t want Barbie boobs I want to look normal even if I don’t have much feeling.

WC3 and Lucyred- When will you be having your exchange surgery? I’m wondering how long your PS is waiting before doing nipple reconstruction for you. My exchange was on Sept 20 and I’m having the nipple recon in 12 days from now. So a three month timeline. I forgot to ask my PS how long before I can have the tattoo coloring done on the aereola. Have either of you discussed this with your PS yet? I’m a little nervous for this surgery and but also hoping that when it’s done, I’ll feel better looking at them in the mirror. It’s going to be different I know to make it match up to my natural breasts nipple but at least I will have one

Gramto4 - I won't have my exchange until the end of May 2019. I know I asked about nipple recon surgery and they told me when I could have it but I don't remember what they said. I am hope it won't take another 6 months from the exchange surgery.
