Aussie, they were Nancy's
-
Lisa, the fact that Aussie thought they were your photos is a BIG compliment to me! Thank you.
-
Lisa and Nancy, sorry about getting the names confused. Having usernames and real names and then referring to others' names in posts as well makes it even more confusing. I'm enjoying everyone's photos.
-
Aussie, no big deal. I am just glad you are enjoying all the photos here and are nice enough to comment on them.

Thanks, Nancy.
-
Yesterday. The birds were too far to see with my eyes.
-
Wow! That must be some zoom lens! That photo would be worthy of hanging on a wall.
-
Lisa, it's beautiful!

Beautiful Lisa. Did you get your new zoom camera?
-
I did Nancy, but this was a little one I keep in the car in case I see something.
Can't wait to get out with the new one!

White pelicans have come by
-
Lisa, that's a lovely photo! Happy New Year to you and everyone!

Beautiful flower and great photo!

Hi ladies. I have been sick for three week so haven't done much lately in the way of photography. I just found out recently that one of my sunset photos won for the month of December in this ongoing photo competition I have participated in for the last two years, so I am now among the finalists to win the top $500 prize. All the voting is on Facebook and I am not on Facebook so I won't be able to rally all my friends like most can but I was excited to win the $75 that I did. In November I won $50 for winning another competition with a hawk photo I think I posted here in November.
Lisa, I love seeing those white pelicans again. They are long gone from here now. I love the the flower pic. I bought myself some nice binoculars for Christmas. I was out visiting this lake I frequent often and there was quite the buzz. All of these birders were out with their spotting scopes which I have never seen in the past. I talked with them and the big buzz was a very rare gull that had somehow made it to our area. The only other sighting of one in this county was back in 2010. The gull is a black legged kittiwake which you may know and even have pictures of. I was just getting my strength back and didn't have my camera but I did get to see it with my new binoculars. From a distance it looked like all the other gulls but it was quite the stir there this past few days.
I will be doing more MRI's to determine what is going on with me.
Happy 2019!!!
-
Nancy, I'm really sorry to hear that you've been sick and I pray that the MRIs go well and the explanation turns out to be easily fixable and nothing too worrisome. I pray you feel a lot better soon. Well done on winning those prizes for your photography! Happy 2019!!
-
Thank you Aussie. I will schedule my first MRI today. Then will have another repeat of brain MRI probably soon after.
Nancy
-
Way to go with the photography, Nancy..I hope you are doing better.
My son is becoming a birder. I think he has seen hundred of species. He keeps track on
his phone. Vacationing in Costa Rica was so much fun for him..
-
Thank you Lisa. I really got the binoculars as a help for my photography but who knows if I will be biten by the birding bug as well. I have to say I have met a lot of very nice people when they saw me out with my binoculars. I took a workshop with this photographer in the past and he hosts trips to Costa Rica for a very limited number of photographers for a hands on learning situation. I understand that is a wonderful place to see many fascinating birds that we would not see here. I imagine your son had a great time there. I am finally getting over this sickness that just didn't want to let go. I still have sinus congestion. I just scheduled my MRI for the 23rd so hopefully I won't have a coughing fit inside the machine like I did in November. Thanks for asking. One issue at a time.
Nancy
-
Nancy, it sounds stressful to have a coughing fit inside the machine! Could you take some cough mixture beforehand to prevent it?
-
Aussie, the coughing was from sinus drainage and totally took me off guard when it started during the MRI. I don't think cough meds would help for that but I am using two different nose sprays and hopefully that will help with the congestion that has hung on. Luckily my crud I had didn't go into my lungs.

-
Lisa, that's a great photo!
Nancy, I miss you. How are you doing?
-
Lisa, do you know what kind of bird that is. It's a beauty. I tried to ID it and had no luck. Great shot.
Aussie, thank you for the shout out. I am preparing for my MRI of the neck on Wed. and then I will have a much better idea of what I am facing. The repeat MRI of the brain will come after that. I am a bit nervous about what they find.
I have had a nice distraction. The photo competition that I have been among eight finalists has ended. The voting was all on Facebook (I am not on that) and I was overwhelmed at the support of family, friends and neighbors who rallied for me and I won 2nd. I was thrilled beyond measure. This photo came with a $75 gift card for being in the finals and a $250 gift card for winning 2nd. I am humbled and grateful for this exciting time while waiting on these scans. I don't think I ever posted this pic but this one is the one that made the finals. I also had an article written on the win and I was also interviewed for a clip on TV. I spent several hours outside in the cold to get this shot so it paid off for sure.
-
Great photo. Deserved to win. Congratulations.
-
Thanks Wren.
Nancy
-
Nancy, thanks for checking in. I pray your MRI goes well and all your test results are as good as possible. Do you know when you'll get the results?
That's a great photo! I'm glad you won 2nd prize. Congratulations!
The bird looks like an ibis to me but I don't know much about birds.
-
Thanks Aussie. No I don't know when I will get results. This specialist is hard to get in touch with to begin with so I am preparing for a wait. My last MRI of the brain in Nov. was ordered from my oncologist I found out the next day and she called me at home. I don't think this specialist will do any calling and I may find out in our electronic messages where they post test results. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for asking.
Could be ibis. I will have to look that up again.
Lisa, I bet you were out photographing the moon last night. It was so cold here I only went out and looked at it a few times but not ready to brave the cold to take any pics.
