I have been on letrozole for 1 year now. I had my cholesterol checked right before I started. It was 156 - three years ago it was 152. I just got my results for today's test and my cholesterol is now 196- four points away from borderline high (up 40 points) I m quite upset about this. Does it just continue to go up? Not only that my glucose is up too. My dr. ordered an ac1 test for sugar. Diabetes too? Hope not. I'm really concerned about staying in this drug.

Nancy2581...sorry you are having issues on letrozole. You might want to work with your MO and try a different aromatase inhibitor. However if you do decide not to take them there are things you can do to lower your estrogen naturally. Visit the alternative thread for some tips. Good luck and keep us posted.

Nancy2581: I don't really know about the cholesterol issue (I'm due for my annual in March) but I do know that my joints were HURTING when I got on letrozole.

I was on Tamoxifen from Dec 2017 to June 2018 with very little SE. Then my oncologist put me on Letrozole+Lupron from July onwards. I had really bad joint issues - particularly on the knees. So I asked her to switch me back to Tamoxifen and we did beginning late November. Already I feel much better. My oncologist wants me to try Anastrozole (SP?) with Lupron but I told her I'll be on Tamoxifen first since it worked for me -- and that we'll discuss AI again maybe in 6 months or so. I know others have issues with Tamoxifen but everyone is different, I guess. What I'm trying to say is that there are other AI out there if Letrozole isn't cutting out for you.
