Recieving radiation for a benign tumor

I had 3 biopsies. 2 benign one malignant. Had a lumpectomy for cancer, small 1 centimeter. Received radiation. Had rather severe burns. received a bill for first couple of treatments and found I am being radiated in the cancer spot and one of the benign spots. Is this common? Thanks JoAnn

Was it all in the same breast? They radiate the entire breast. Do you mean they boosted the benign area, or just that it was included?

It was in the same breast. one at 10 o'clock the cancer sight and one at two o'clock. I had two biopsies in the two o'clock area. Had to do a second one in the area because they biopsied the wrong spot the first time. JoAnn

They will radiate the entire breast, they have to, including the benign areas. Did you ask the radiation oncologist to explain the bill?
