Biopsy today...results likely tomorrow or Thursday

Just wanted to check in and say hello and thanks to all for your encouraging words on my earlier posts. I had my biopsy this morning. It was the vacuum needle deal and other than the pinch to start the numbing, it was easy-peasy. I know many people read or lurk these forums have a biopsy scheduled or are waiting for results, and I just wanted to send a note of encouragement that the biopsy was really no big deal for me. Current state - working at home, the "girls" are wrapped in an ace bandage for 24 hours with a little ice pack tucked in there. Numbness is wearing off and there's just a teeny bit of discomfort - nothing that Tylenol can't help. Oh, and the mammogram after the biopsy to check the magnetic clip the inserted was a breeze. The team at this breast center was fantastic, too...so that helps. Now, just a deep breath and to wait a few days.

Just wanted to give an update and share that we've all probably been through way worse so if you're waiting to have a similar type of biopsy, don't fret. Technology is great and it was super easy.

Hugs and well wishes to all.

I'm awaiting biopsy results and lurking here a bit. Such brave people here! It's been a great inspiration. I was supposed to wait and get results at Breast Specialist appointment this Thursday but just now called my OBGYN asking for results sooner and now my anxiety is off the charts. I'm regretting the request. Should've waited but it's hard to wait.

JenCanDoThis, you were the first person to give me those words of encouragement...so I'm doing the same for you! I've been thinking about you and I totally understand your head space. Did your OBGYN indicate they'd give you the results sooner? I'm sending positive vibes!!

I just realized we had "talked" before. My OBGYN is a survivor and for whatever reason her "process" that is followed for any of her patients getting a biopsy is for the radiologist to set up an appointment with a breast specialist to go over the results. My appointment is this Thursday. My OBGYN has had the results since late Friday if all went as scheduled. I was sooooo good until just now. The rational side of me says it's probably fine and just get the results Thursday but my emotional side wants to know now. I'm glad you had a good biopsy experience. Mine was good as well. It was a bit "rougher" than I anticipated because the Dr. had to drive the needle through a big wall of dense tissue. The bruising is nuts. Like a fist punch on the side of my boob. Oddly, last night in bed was the first time I had any odd feeling or pain in my boob. No pain, just like a hollow feeling if that makes sense. My biopsy was last Wednesday. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Benign! Something called PASH. Nothing to worry about. Annual mammograms.

Thanks, Djmammo. Do you know the “best practice” around letting it ride or removing the mass? I’ve read a lot of mixed approaches. In your experience, is there a best practice? Also wondering if anyone else has experience with PASHand opted to go one way or another?

That kind of advice is outside of my field of expertise but I do know that opinions differ amongst surgeons. If you have a surgeon who has fellowship training in breast surgery, and their practice is limited to breast surgery only, I might go with their opinion over a general surgeon who does breast surgery only now and then.
