Waiting for biopsy
hi, I had my first mammogram 6 months ago and was given a bi rads 3. Went in for number 2 on Thursday morning and had a call just a few hours later. Dr is sending me for a stereotactic core biopsy. I’m now at a bi rad 4. There is a history with both my mom and her half sister. Both where DCIS. My mammogram states 6 calcifications in a tight group, combined diameter of group is 2.5 millimeters. Califacation are slightly pleomorphic and increased from April. Small focus of low grade DCIS is not excluded.
I’m trying hard to be positive but it’s to close to home having both my mom and aunt diagnosed over 10 years ago. We went the positive route but kept getting bad news then. I’m so worried and reading way to much on line. I coupe by being informed. Ugh.

Dear Tchuts,
Welcome to the community. We are sorry that these changes in your breast have brought you here but glad that you reached out. Waiting for definitive results is a very stressful part of any experience of change in one's health. Everyone here would say that same. Your family history certainly adds to your worry. Reading and researching on-line and even reading stories here of others who have been diagnosed with breast cancer may cause more anxiety. You may consider pulling back from what you read that causes increased worry. Distraction can be your friend when in this situation. We are sending you best wishes and hopes for a benign result. Keep us posted. The Mods

DCIS was easy for my friend --- I believe it's kind of a pre-cancer. She had a lumpectomy and went home the same day -- no big time anesthesia. Then she had radiation that she said wasn't bad. Then she went on the pills for 5 years and that was 9 years ago. She's fine. Even if you have to have a core biopsy it won't hurt one little bit. The shot didn't even hurt. I understand your anxiety because I'm also waiting for tests and then results --

The waiting is brutal! Do you have your biopsy scheduled yet?
-
nothing yet. Doctor was sending a referral in on Friday so now I wait. I was hoping to get the call today since I am not working. Looks like I’ll be obsessed with calling to check my messages all day tomorrow while working.

Any update for you? I'm kinda going thru the same thing so I feel for you.

no updates. This morning a called my dr office to find out where the referral was sent. I’m in a small town so there was a big chance it wouldnt be done here. I confirmed then called the hospital, they stated they didnt have it. I talked to the lady in radiology that does biopsy’s. She gave me her direct fax number so I had my dr send again. I can see the referral in my health portal now. Hoping they call to book today. The wait sucks but at least having a date will help. I have to make arranges for my kids since I’ll have to leave town for this. We don’t have a lot of help and my husband want to be with me for this appointment.

i'm going to PM you.

had my stereotactic biopsy today. It went well. Will honestly say it does suck but very much doable. The hardest part seemed to be having your breast sqeeze in the mammogram machine while they do the procedure. My freezing took longer to take which seems to happen to me at the dentist too so I’m thinking it is just how my body responds. The first biopsy was a little bit painful because of that. They did have to complete 2 since they didn’t get the area they wanted. Had to go for round 2 but no pain with that one. I feel relieved that it is over. With Christmas here I know the wait for results will take a bit longer so I am putting it all away until Christmas is over. I’m going to focus on my kids and family.

my dr called with results today. I was driving with my daughter so I didn’t get to have a great convo with her. She said it was not cancer. No cancer at all. That was all I really heard but then she did say dysplasia and that I need to book with her in January, that we would have to go though strict screening in the future. Now I googled again and have so many different new things in my brain. Any input from anyone getting these responses?

Hi Ladies,
I am
Just leaving a little note really to vent as it’s the holidays
I found a lump back in August. Was sent for a Mammogram. Then an U/S. (The ultrasound was only a Birads 3). The radiologist told me I could have a biopsy then or wait 3 months. I said if he recommended waiting was ok I was Ok. But went back to my OB who said no to wait....was sent to a breast surgeon who then ordered an MRI. The MRI I was told would tell is everything. I was pretty disappointed when it came back with a Birads 0 needing a second look Ultrasound but the report still sounded very promising with just a new mass to just check on.
So imagine my frustration yesterday at my ultrasound when the radiologist came in and ordered a biopsy and found an entirely new mass, and actually told me the radiologist that read my MRI missed it completely. 🤦🏼♀️
He also found two new masses in my armpit. But wasn’t too worried about these ones. Guess I’m just prone to making them. So since August they’ve found 6 that they aren’t worried about and just this one that they are.
Just annoyed and frustrated. As i know everyone else is too. The worst part of it is apparently this mass is attached to a cyst and both of them are virtually sitting on my breast implant. The radiologist said there’s a high likely hood that if they do a core or vacuum biopsy they could rupture the implant. And they recommend excisional biopsy but that would leave the breast disfigured! Like I’m supposed to worry about that too!?
Anyway - thanks for letting me vent.
Merry Christmas to you all. No fun having to deal with this right now. Didn’t want to ruin my families Christmas right now. Will tell them in a couple days.
Xx
