Hello I a new to this forum. I first noticed about 2 months ago my left Breast nipple was inverted. My Breast was also swollen and I had pain under my arm and my breast. I had a mammogram and ultrasound on 9/19.  They were both normal but was referred to get a MRI. I had that done on 10/18 and the report was reported as normal. Still having pain and nipple still inverted and also large vein appeared and could be felt. Also a red area came up in that same area. I’m did a self referral to Moffitt in Tampa. 11/5 I had an appt they did 2 mammograms and an ultrasound. Results showed a suspicious mass measuring 8 millimeters with in distinct margins in the left breast upper quadrant at 1’oclock located 5 centimeters from the nipple. Nipple retraction in the left breast with no suspicious subareolar masses. They suggested an ultrasound guided biopsy. I went in today and the radiologist came in and said she was going to drain it and if she got it all a biopsy was not needed. She didnt have to do a biopsy and said she got all the fluid. I have an appointment at Moffitt with a breast surgeon on the 16th of this month for further evaluation. I don’t know why I am still having pain and don’t know what other evaluation can be done by the breast surgeon?  I’m glad they said it was a cyst they drained but still concerned as to the other symptoms I am having.

I would think an appointment post-procedure at the NCI Designated Cancer Center Moffitt on 11/16 will answer your questions. We would just be guessing, but you are in good hands there

I wonder if they will do pathology on what they drained, and that's what she meant that a biopsy isn't needed? Did they mention waiting on any test results?

That the MRI was normal is a big relief. I know that you have been through a lot. It may still hurt for a while. Try anything to get comfortable. Ice, etc.

I have a large vein on my left breast and some calcifications near the nipple. They hurt, but are not cancerous.

      I'm at Moffitt, too.

You are in good hands at Moffit and fortunate to be there. Waiting is very hard.

But you will have answers. Good luck to you!

I have the appointment with the breast surgeon at Moffitt on friday the 16th. I am glad the MRI came back normal but just want some answers to the other symptoms. What have you had done at Moffitt so far?

I asked the radiologist if the fluid that she drain was going to be sent to the lab she said if it was clear she wouldn’t send anything out. She said if it was bloody she would have sent it to be tested.

Hello I thought I would give an update on my progress. I went to the breast surgeon today at Moffett. She checked my left breast.  Since The appointment for the aspiration to get the fluid out which was supposed to be a biopsy I thought. I’m still having pain and also bruising and a difference in the skin texture.  She said that she thinks it could be an infection and gave me antibiotics. She said if there’s any changes to let her know. She  would like to see me in three months for an ultrasound. Then an MRI in the next three months. And then the next three months for a MRI. I asked her about the pain still and why am having pain and she said if I put like a heating pad or something on it it would help with the pain.  They also took a picture up my left breast to compare it to the next time I come. I still have the swelling and it started itching last couple days. So if it’s the infection maybe that’s the reason I’m not sure. Does anybody have any input?

I love Moffitt Hospital!! 22 yrs ago I too my husband (deceased now) there for a 2nd opinion and then care for Glioblastoma Mutiforme IV. The treatment and care was great!! They often found things our local hospital couldn't find.

In my opinion I would listen to the Onc team there vs local hospital. I think yiu made a great decision getting addtional testing dome there.

(Also nice to meet you I'm in St Augustine)
