Hello I'm new here

I was diagnosed on October 23rd 2018 with invasive ductal cancer of my left breast the original tumor was 18 centimeters and I had a biopsy done a week later. Last TuesdayI had a breast MRI done and then I found out that I have three more tumors of unknown status in my left breast.

I just had those three masses biopsied yesterday and am awaiting pathology reports.Once this is done my surgeon will be better able to decide if I can still have the lumpectomy or if I'm to have a full mastectomy.

I'm only 55 almost 56 and sometimes I'm honestly overwhelmed. This is such a roller coaster ride. ... 1st I had only 1 tumor and now there could be 4 (and not near each other at all) but I'm trying to do everything I can to learn about my cancer about treatment options and to keep calm and peaceful....

    Hi Nanette, Glad you found this place, sorry you had to!💜 This is the place you can find info.,encouragement, answers, love. Strong bunch of ladies! I was diagnosed in 2015 at age 57. Biggest shock of my life, B.C. doesn't run in my family and health and fitness was my way of life. Right now you're in waiting mode, kind.of the hardest part. You'll learn a lot over the next days and weeks. Once you have a treatment plan in place, you'll feel better, believe it or not. Because then you'll be in fighter mode! I don't think it's unusual to find additional tumors in an MRI. The fact that they're not close may mean lumpectomy would be too disfiguring,but your surgeon will advise you on options. I had one sided Mastectomy, and reconstruction, not as bad as you think!😉 My cancer was pretty advanced so I had lots of treatments over 2 years, all do-able! Pretty much had everything on the menu, and came out just FINE! Come back after you know your plan, and we'll talk you through it all! Whatever you'll be going through, someone here has also gone through and will have helpful tips and encouragement. Best wishes to you!😚💜💜💜

    Try not to worry about other the masses found. I also had 2 other masses show up on MRI so did 3 biopsies to know what I was dealing with. The other 2 were B9 and nothing to worry about. Right now is the worse time. Once you get a plan in place you will feel a lot better! You got this!

    Thanks for the kind posts 8) Out of the 3 new lumps 1 was benign but the other 2 are seedings.

    I'm thankful I'm doing this now seeing as to how fast my cancer is seeding and growing. I can only image what this could have been come April when I was scheduled to go for my mammogram.

    HI,

    Take heart that you caught it, and that you will rid your body of this disease. Let us know what your tx plan is, and your status, when you get it all together. Are you thinking BMX with reconstruction? Anyway, we are here for you.

    I start Taxol and Herceptin tomorrow morning. DH is going to go and sit with me fir my 1st treatment. Right now I'm so nervous I could just crawl out of my skin...I guess it's just nerves because I don't know what to really expect it to be like

    Anyhow yes I'm considering a bi-lateral BMX with reconstruction some time in the spring after the chemo is done and I'm cleared to do so. Mentally I think this would be best for me ... I'm almost 56 and been on the 'large size' (as my sons keep telling me) boob-wise & well ...I still have time to think about it.

    Hi There! I'm not on these boards often, popped on to check in with my chemo group from 2016. I was just amazed that it's now been 2 years, as I can still clearly see and feel what you're going through.

    I had chemo first as well....I was 49 and shaved my head in prep for the chemo fallout on my 50th birthday- good times lol.

    I had a "mass" as they kept calling it. "Aggressive". But honestly it was so overwhelming, and you're trying to keep up on all of the info that I didn't realize there were truly 4 tumors until I was into it by about 3 months lol.

    There are so many of us that are on the other side....know you will get there. Definitely some downs along the way, but ups too- those silver linings that come along in times like these.

    Hi again, surgery wasn't bad. I don't remember any real pain at all. It seems that our breast tissue doesn't have a lot of nerve receptors (or something like that) anyway, surgery didn't hurt. I did have immediate recon following the bmx, but it was easy because I stayed small and didn't need expanders or anything.

    Hopefully you'll have more information to share about your tx path soon.
