Severe allergies to opoids - any suggestions?

Congrats on being proactive and reaching this point - exchange is usually a more positive surgery! I have exchanged twice, long story, but did not need narcotics after either. I had some soreness but not the frank pain I experienced after mastectomy and tissue expander placement. Part of the reason is that the muscle expansion was already done and the hard expander removed with soft implant placed - which is far more comfortable, and making the incision for exchange by going through the original BMX incisions, which were already devoid of feeling. I would ask about a fentanyl patch, short term, if that is something that works for you, but you can also ask about Exparel which numbs locally, and/or a paraveterbral anesthetic block, which functions like a epidural and provides some pain relief short-term.
